Leon Ross, son of the Late Walter and Celestine Ross, born on March 20, 1941 in Tyronza, Arkansas, passed away on September 01, 2019, surrounded by his loving family, in Mastic Beach, New York.
In his younger years, Leon moved from Arkansas to Mississippi, where he was blessed with his first son, and later moved to Riverhead, Long Island. His love for women being his weakness, Leon went on to father another son and two daughters. In 1987, he met his life partner, Serrina Burrell and together raised two more sons. He was a loving father and hardworking provider, an amazing carpenter and plumber. He always taught his children to "be eager to listen and slow to speak". He lived by these words, but when he spoke, it was his way or the highway! He had the title of "Grandpa", but he was a father figure to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. The real deal, he was the true definition of what a man and father should be. A kind and loyal man, Leon was always willing to help anyone in need.
He is survived by his children: Eric, Anthony and Shaunte Ross, Crystal Dunton, Jamont and Darriel Burwell, grandchildren; Shauntel (aka Freedom), Isaiah, Destiny, Anthony Jr., Shaniece, Mekhi, Nijae, Celestine, Jahnaysia, Leon, Natiese, Malachi, long time partner; Serrina Burwell, siblings; Celestine, Alberta, and Virgalee. Leon will be loved and missed immensely by all those who were blessed to know him.
Visitation and prayer services were held at Church of Christ, Riverhead, N.Y. Interment followed at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Center Moriches.
